If the meteoric success of the Jamaican-born Floridian businessman and pastor, Dennis Grant, is anything to go by, then, without a doubt, investing in land is the path to building financial wealth and living the American dream.

"You don't need a have a green card or be an American citizen to purchase land in the United States. Four years ago I was broke but I knew whereI was going and started seeking opportunities," said Grant in a presentation Wednesday at the Hilton Kingston hotel as he encouraged the participants to invest in land through his company, Florida Topland, Incorporated.

Insult Trading at the American Stock Exchange

According to a tip from one of our readers, two men were fined yesterday on the floor of the American Stock Exchange for 'conduct unbefitting of an exchange member.' A heated verbal exchange and near melee occurred between a broker from Israel A. Englander and a market-maker from G-Bar Trading.

The exchange that was shouted for the entire floor to hear, roughly paraphrased:

G-Bar market-maker: You're a fatboy… fatboy, fatboy, fatboy, fatboy, fatboy! Israel A. Englander broker: Go have some gay sex, you like it rough, you're gay, gay, gay!

Strangely, there was more to the conflict than a disagreement about the propensity to overeat and engage in rough gay sex (not two of the American Stock Exchange's new structured products). Here's what happened:

Basically the broker was representing a customer order on the floor (in the pit), found a solicited party off-floor to fill the customer's order, was filled on his resting order by market-makers before actually indicating the presence of the solicited party...

New Twist On Foreign Lottery 'Smart Scams'

(CBS) CHICAGO Foreign lottery scams are at the top of the fraud charts with law enforcement authorities. They estimate that hundreds of millions of dollars a year are lost to fraud rings based in countries like Canada, Spain and Australia, to name a few. The CBS 2 Investigators look at the new twist to this old scam that accounts for its resurgence. As CBS 2 Investigator Pam Zekman reports, it's a smart scam that turned a smart man into a big loser. Like millions of Americans, 79-year-old Arent Jacobson was bombarded with announcements he'd won big money in foreign lotteries. "He believed it. And this is a man that is highly educated. Very intelligent, said Jacobsons daughter, Linda Walsh. The retired attorney wired a series of $2,500 payments to people in Canada and Costa Rica who told him a string of lies.

Financial Tips by Carl Mook

A: A home equity line of credit can be put to good use as a convenient source of cash for things such as home improvements, a child's college education or even the rare emergency. As with any major financial decisions, it is important to consider the advantages as well as the disadvantages before moving forward. One of the major advantages is that homeowners are generally free to use the home equity line of credit for anything they wish. Another nice characteristic is that interest is not usually charged until the line of credit is actually used. Also, in order to minimize the homeowner's initial cash outlay, the financing costs associated with the line of credit may actually be built into the line of credit.

Two of the greatest benefits of the home equity line of credit are that interest is generally tax deductible up to a certain point, making other debt that would have no tax deductible interest become deductible if the line of credit was used to pay off this other debt.

GuardedID's New "CryptoColor" Cloaks Consumer Keystrokes From ...

GuardedID's new patent pending keystroke encryption process encrypts all online keystrokes instantly as a user types. GuardedID then delivers those encrypted keystrokes via its own protected pathway, securing such things as usernames, passwords, social security numbers, credit card info, personal & banking information, email, online application personal information, or any other private / corporate information you type when online.

"When the Web browser screen is green (the default CryptoColor), the PC users' keystrokes can't be seen," said Mark Kay, CEO of StrikeForce Technologies. "Already we have some of the world's largest banks piloting the new CryptoColor version of GuardedID and we estimate that when the trials are complete millions of customers will be under our technology's protection against cyber crooks," he added.
